AEW Dynamite, September 23, 2020

Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, FL

Kip Sabian & Miro vs. Sonny Kiss & Joey Janela

Before the match, Kip is the one to formally introduce Miro to the ring. We get an in-screen promo from Joey Janela. They’re not here to talk about outside personal factors, they’re here to be the best in the ring. He laughs maniacally.


Bell rings and it’s Kip and Sonny starting it off. Sonny is chock full of athleticism. Miro gets the tag. Joey does too, but then Kip tags himself back in. “We want Miro” chants start as Joey tags in Sonny who cross bodies off for a two count. Sonny and Joey work together to isolate Kip. Miro cheap shots Sonny as he comes in to make a tag. Miro finally gets the tag and levels Sonny down before catching Joey and flinging him aside. Kip gets tagged back in but it’s not long before Miro comes back in with a gut wrench to Sonny. Hard shot sends Sonny down again. He admires Daily’s Place as he continues his offense. Tag to Kip by flinging him over the ropes into a senton. A punt kick to Sonny and gets a two.


Sonny does get a tag, but Aubrey Edwards didn’t see it so Sonny has to say inside. JR notes that Miro was trained by Rikishi and Gangrel. Sonny is isolated but fights back against Kip. Flipping tag made. Joey comes in and slaps Miro who comes charging at Joey. Joey pulls the ropes down and Miro comes tumbling. He comes up limp and his favoring his left leg. Looks legit as Miro powers through it to continue offense.


Joey kicks Kip down in the middle of the ring and gets a near fall on Sabian. Miro however comes in, knocks Sonny off the apron and Rusev kicks Joey’s head off. Miro and and Kip hit a pop-up lung blower to Sonny. Near win but Joey makes the save. They soon dump Joey out and Miro hits Sonny with a Rusev Kick. He locks Sonny in the Accolade and gets the submission win.


WINNER: Miro


Out comes Eddie Kingston who tells the crowd and television viewers that he has his World Title shot tonight. He states that unlike Moxley, he didn’t sell his soul to the devil to be with the sports entertainers, he stayed back with the fighters. He tells Mox to come out because he wants to stare him down. Mox obliges as officials come in to separate the two.


Evil Uno vs. Adam Page


Kenny Omega comes out for commentary once more as JR notes that Kenny again was offered for this to be a tag match, but he declined.


Dark Order members including Colt Cabana stands on stage as the bell rings. Uno wrenches the arm.Page goes for a shoulder block, but Uno counters with his own. Massive dropkick by Page. Snap suplex only gets a one count.


Hangman does a pump handle bridge suplex that was very impressive. Belly-to-back by Uno. He stomps away at Hangman. Page knocks him out to the floor and flies on top of him. He rolls Uno back in. Crowd is chanting “Cowboy stuff” (being mindful of no cuss words). Uno grabs Page’s leg and spins it to Rick Knox who instinctively grabs it allowing Uno to knock Page down. We go to break.


Back from break, Page gets knocked on stage and Dark Order advance on Page, including Colt. Kenny on commentary is briefly at odds, but doesn’t have to commit to helping as the cult backs off and exit. Hangman regains control with a body droop on the apron before hitting his shooting star press for a two count.


A pump kick levels Page down. Uno hits a senton atomico for a near fall. Very hard shot by Uno. Hangman fires back and Uno hits him with a hard. Hangman charges back with a charging lariat. He goes for a shooting star press but Uno gets his knees up. Hangman still finds control and soon hits the Buckshot Lariat for the hard-fought win.

Earlier in the day, Tony Schiavone apprehensively knocks on Matt Jackson’s dressing room. MAtt offers some insincere apologizes to Alex Marvez and Mike “Poser” for their attacks. Tony tries to ask questions about FTR and Matt gradually gets more and more aggravated. He asks to see Tony’s phone and then smashes it in front of him before erratically apologizing and tossing a bunch of money in the air. Exit.


AEW TNT Championship

Orange Cassidy vs. Mr. Brodie Lee (c)

Orange does not look intimidated whatsoever as Justin Roberts makes formal introductions. Dark Order stands on the outside. Brodie sits on the top turnbuckle before the bell rings as Jon Silver stomps on Orange’s shirt and jacket. Anna Jay talks trash to OC as he puts his shades on Anna Jay. Brodie drops his glasses in front of him. Bell rings and Orange does his pocket and shin kicks, but Brodie gives him a shot and slaps him down hard. Orange manages to evade Brodie and dives onto the Dark Order outside. They catch him allowing Lee to dive on top of all of them.


Back in the ring, Brodie grabs Orange by the ear and picks him up. Big chop to Cassidy and Brodie distracts ref Paul Turner while Dark Order attack OC on the outside. A flying senton from the apron and it gets him a two count. Back on the outside, Dark ORder continue to sneak attack OC.


Action gets in the ring again as Cassidy goes for his swinging DDT but Brodie turns that momentum into executing his Bossman Slam.


Pure domination by Brodie Lee as we return from break. He hits two half-and-half suplexes as JR implores Paul Turner to consider calling the match. Orange looks out of it, but it’s appears to be a ploy by OC. He rolls Brodie up and sends him into both corners. He eludes some attacks that sends Brodie tumbling and he hits two elbow suicidas. He fights off the attacks from Dark Order and then soon hits a diving DDT from the top rope on Brodie. Two running PKs fires up Lee. A tornado DDT followed by a White Noise. Two count! Cassidy goes for the Orange Punch but Lee sends an interfering John Silver in the line of fire. This allows Brodie to powerbomb and lariat OC down for the W.

Brodie celebrates, but the lights go out and who comes out but a jet-black haired Cody! He takes it to all members of The Dark Order. He soon cinches in the figure four on Allan Angels and we go to commercial break as Cody looks wild-eyed.


Backstage, an irate Brodie talks major trash to Cody saying he hides behind his brother and his wife. He then introduces a dog collar into the equation and The American Nightmare has one week to answer if he is a man or is he a coward?

Matt Hardy comes out with Private Party. He mentions his birthday wishes appreciation and notes how he was attacked last week. He runs down a few suspects before making Chris Jericho is prime candidate. He credits Private Party last week for their efforts despite Jericho and Jake Hager’s underhanded tactics to win that tag match. He says Jericho may be call himself The Million Viewer Man” or “The Demo God” but he’ll always be known as an asshole. Out comes Jericho with Santana, Ortiz and HAger. He wishes Matt a “Happy Birthday” before saying “Who gives a shit!”


Jericho says nobody knows when Sammy Guevara is coming back because of Matt sending him through the stage at All Out, but he pulls a fast one and welcomes Sammy back on stage. Sammy comes out and hugs his leader. Jericho states that he didn’t hit Matt from behind last week. He would hit him head on. Marq Quen begins to challenge Jericho because of him attacking Isiah Kassidy, but Isiah happens to be the one who challenges Chris for next week. What if a young, 23-year-old kid from the streets of Brooklyn New York beats Chris Jericho?


Back from break, Tony Schiavone is center-ring with Tully Blanchard and FTR. He pulls a fast one on the fans by saying they’ve been sucked in by the run of The AEW Tag Team Champions.


Tully says that FTR has introduced a 20-minute brush with greatness. They also get to pick their opponents. SCU. If they don’t defeat FTR then they get a W in the ring column. Dax asks who their next opponents will be after SCU? They begin to mock The Best Friends and they come out. It looks like the bout is about to go down right here, right now, but FTR pulls another fast one as the ref comes out. Cash says it doesn’t look like The BFs are ready and they exit. Chuck Taylor calls FTR weenies and embraces his partner.


Ivelisse & Diamante vs. Thunder Rosa & Hikaru Shida

Thunder Rosa comes out with Road Warrior Animal face paint on to honor the late legend. The bell rings as Ivelisse and Diamante attack their opponents from behind. The two singles champions get control soon enough as it gets down to Diamante and Rosa. Rosa is just on fire. Hits a running senton for two. Ivelisse begins to go after Rosa on the mat and powerbombs her as we go to break.


Back lice, it’s Shida and Diamante. Diamante hits a stunner after tagging in Ivelisse who gets a near fall. Thunder Rosa comes in and fights with Ivelisse Rosa inadvertently hits Shida and Ivelisse hits two roundhouse kicks to both foes. A double team sliced bread gets a close fall, but Rosa just makes the save.


Shida hits her falcon arrow, but Ivelisse saves it. Rosa then isolates Ivelisse on the outside and it allows Shida to hit her shining wizard for the three count.


WINNERS: Thunder Rosa & Hikaru Shida


Backstage, Chris Jericho accepts Isiah’s challenge and in comes MJF to placate Chris before both call each other out for calling one another a loser. MJF says he was referring to his limo driver while Jericho says he was calling Schiavone a loser. The two “friends” appear to patch things up.


Eddie Kingston vs. Jon Moxley (c)

Bell rings and the two collar and elbow one another. Head scissor hold by Mox before the two reset. Test of strength. Eddie powers him down. Mox strengthens back and kicks his arm free to get him in a hammer lock. The two exchange slaps. Hard chop by Eddie and Mox return the favor. This is goes on for a bit. Enziguri then clothesline by Kingston. Eddie tosses Mox to the outside and then stomps away at the champ. Mox shoves Eddie against the apron and Kingston throws Mox in the corner of Doc Sampson. He flips a table up and we go to picture-in-picture.


Back from break, more hard shots exchanged. Chops like crazy from Eddie. Mox stops it with a hard clothesline.


Mox dives onto Eddie from the outside. He snaps suplexes Eddie on the floor. Back in the ring, Mox scouts a clothesline and hits a piledriver on Kingston for a near fall, but Eddie gets his foot on the ropes.


Eddie turns a turnbuckle attack into a powerbomb for a near fall of his own. He goes for the back fist shot, but Mox ducks and the two once more exchange series of hard chops.


Mox hits a German on Kingston, but Eddie suplexes him twice and a exhausted cover allows Mox to get a shoulder up.


Eddie goes for his backfist elbow once more, but Mox ducks and turns a sleeper into his bulldog choke finisher as the ref calls the match.


Post match, Eddie’s crew of The Lucha Bros attack Mox. Will Hobbs comes in for the save, but the attack is too vicious – cue Darby. That however brings out Ricky Starks who uses a skateboard to assault his rival. He hits his Rochambeau. Taz comes out to admire as Eddie Kingston, Lucha Bros and Starks stand tall to close out the program.
