Fire Pro Wrestling World PS4 Release Date

On Saturday, developer Spike Chunsoft and PlayStation released the trailer below announcing FPWW, the NJPW licensing and the August 28 release date.

The Fire Pro Wrestling brand dates back more than 30 years and the series has always been known for its ease of play and unlimited customization. As you can see from the visuals in the trailer, it features graphics that are reminiscent of a previous era of gaming.

That's not necessarily a bad thing as most die-hard wrestling game fans would tell you, the best WWE and WCW games were released in the 1990s. FPWW released for PC in December 2017 to mostly positive reviews, though it didn't seem to get the visibility Spike Chunsoft might have wanted.

By arriving on PS4, the number of eyes on the product will undoubtedly increase. We should see a number of YouTubers at least give the game a try, and that will likely raise the awareness. Also, NJPW fans will take notice as they can find their favorite characters licensed in the game, and the promotion would seemingly run ads for the title during broadcasts.

Gamestop has the game listed at a price of $49.99 and here is the feature list:

  • Mix Up the Rules - Modes include Deathmatch (steel cage, barbed wire, or landmines), MMA rules, no-holds-barred Gruesome Fighting, and SWA homebrew rules that mix pro wrestling and MMA.

  • Unlimited Customization - Create your dream wrestler from over a thousand devastating moves, and even more body parts, to battle for custom championship belts. Personalize the ring, mat logos, and even the referee!

  • Realistic Simulation - Give your creations personalities with a robust system that defines their every action. Does your wrestler play to the crowd, or play dirty? You provide actors for the ringside drama.

  • Play Online - Share your custom wrestlers with other players, organize exhibition matches, tournaments, leagues, championship bouts, and battle royals with players from around the world.

Fans who are willing to sacrifice visuals for more simplistic controls and customization–two very big deals in wrestling games–may be inclined to give FPWW a look.
