FOURWAY MATCH FOR ROH WORLD, IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TITLES OFFICIAL FOR G1 SUPERCARD

The top stars of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling converge on Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 6 for the historic G1 Supercard. Under the bright lights and on the grand stage of “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” the best of the best in pro wrestling will do battle.

The match between the ROH World Tag Team Champions and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions with both titles on the line has gotten even bigger. It will now be a fourway, as the Briscoes and EVIL and SANADA have been added to the match between ROH World Tag Team Champions PCO and Brody King and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Guerrillas of Destinty.

The winner of the match will leave with both sets of championship belts.

The match was originally scheduled to be the Briscoes against G.O.D. (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) of Bullet Club after the Briscoes -- then the ROH World Tag Team Champions -- challenged G.O.D. at Honor Rising last month to face them in a title versus title match at G1 Supercard. The challenge was issued after G.O.D. had won the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles from Los Ingobrnables de Japon’s EVIL and SANADA earlier that night.

The Briscoes subsequently lost their titles to PCO and King of Villain Enterprises at ROH’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view on March 15. Theoretically, that meant that PCO and King replaced the Briscoes in the match at Madison Square Garden.

However, since it was the Briscoes who initiated the challenge with G.O.D, officials from ROH and NJPW agreed that the Briscoes should be included in the match between PCO and King and G.O.D.

Last week, the Briscoes announced that they were cashing in their rematch clause with PCO and King at Road to G1 Supercard in Baltimore on March 31. The Briscoes said they will walk into Madison Square Garden as ROH World Tag Team Champions and they will leave as ROH World and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

Meanwhile, EVIL and SANADA declared that they want their rematch with G.O.D. to take place at G1 Supercard, so that’s why the match is now a fourway between the top four teams in the sport.

Between them, the four teams have won a combined 19 ROH World and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles. The Briscoes, who are 10-time ROH World Tag Team Champions and one-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, are one of only four teams to have held both titles, but no team has ever held both simultaneously.

That will change at G1 Supercard, as history will be made.

G1 Supercard takes place Saturday, April 6 from New York City and airs LIVE on pay-per-view and FREE for ALL HonorClub members! Join now at ROHHonorClub.com
